History of Our Farm

History of Our Farm

Alpacas of Springbrook Farm is truly a family farm. We are fortunate to have all of our five married children and their spouses along with our twelve grandchildren living contiguous to our farm. After twelve years of raising various breeds of sheep and growing vegetable crops that were all donated to a regional food bank, we were influenced to try something different by one of our grandchildren. Our grandson had visited an animal farm and was fascinated by the alpacas he saw that day.

We visited various alpaca farms and fell in love with these unique, curious, gentle and beautiful animals. We found it was not appropriate nor humane to buy just one alpaca because these are herd type animals. We needed two or more. We settled on buying three very nice registered females with a guarantee that all three would be bred by the selling farm with the herdsire of our choice. Our idea of buying an alpaca as a pet for our grandson turned out to be a wonderful new fascinating business with a very satisfying and relaxed lifestyle. We love these animals. The pleasure they give us and our whole family is very rewarding. We have also found the owners and breeders in this industry to be wonderful people. We are right on track with our business plan which will make our grandson’s idea of buying an alpaca escalate into a profitable business coated with fun.
If you have an interest in alpacas we would love to share our experiences with you.
